A Residential Leadership Training Program
Aunt Hattie's Place
MANAGEMENT

Dr. Hattie N. Washington is the Founder and President of Aunt Hattie's Place, Inc. She now has two homes and 18 boys with two recent high school graduates who progressed on to pursue a college degree. One graduated with a B.S. degree in May 2006 and the other, a college sophomore, is currently working toward a completion of his degree program. A third home is presently under construction and will soon be in full operation by 2010 with the capacity to house 8 young men in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Dr. Washington was recently brought on as the first female Vice President of Coppin State University and raised $8 Million in funds for the university; beyond the existing goal of $3 Million. Prior to coming to Coppin State, she was Assistant Superintendent of Baltimore City Schools where the Vision of AHP originated. She has been a devoted teacher for years, a local and state administrator, college professor, TV Hostess, and civic activist. She is the mother of two biological daughters--a physician and an attorney. Dr. Washington sees her work with AHP as a mission--not a position--of "creating winner" rather than just “picking winners."
